“I love working with people who are engaged in their healing process. I find myself taking patients with fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, irritable bowel, fatigue and depression and converting them into people who are symptom-free and able to maximize their potential. They become unstuck. It is an amazing process to witness and facilitate!”
Liz Woolford, M.D.
Liz Woolford, M.D., has been a physician acupuncturist at the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine for the past 9 years. She trained as a physician at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. Following medical school, she completed a three-year traditional Family Practice residency and then worked for nine years as a Family Physician. During that time, she found herself treating and diagnosing many patients with chronic conditions that medications and physical therapy were often unable to address. This inspired her to explore the use of alternative therapies, which she now integrates into her treatments.
Dr. Woolford’s continuing education pursuits include nutrition and non-prescriptive supplements. She completed her training in First Line Therapy in October, 2006.
In addition to her practice, she traveled the country as a Clinical Instructor of Medical Acupuncture with the UCLA Physician Acupuncture Training Course/Helms Medical Institute for 3 years. Currently she serves as President of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA).
Dr. Woolford and the medical accomplishments of the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine have been featured nationally on Lifetime TV.
Dr. Woolford enjoys sharing her experiences and expertise in patient care with local nurses, nursing students, medical students and residents. She likes serving as a bridge in understanding Western Medicine and the role of other scientifically validated alternatives.
