Steve Amoils, M.D., Medical Director
Dr. Steve Amoils and his wife Sandi are the Medical Directors of the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine, which has been chosen as one of the top eight centers of Integrative Medicine in the U.S, by the Bravewell Collaborative.
Dr. Amoils trained as a physician in South Africa, London and the United States. While in medical school, he additionally trained in techniques of naturopathy and osteopathy and was involved in research on both the local African healing system and meditation.
Following medical school Dr. Amoils, together with his wife Sandi, spent two years traveling around the world, intent on seeking out healers in indigenous medical systems that were achieving “miracle cures” (something that Western medicine could not achieve). This included studying acupuncture in Japan and energy healing techniques throughout the world. He also studied acupuncture under Dr. Joe Helms at the UCLA Medical Acupuncture training program for physicians, and is a founding member of the Ohio Chapter of the American academy of Medical Acupuncture.
Dr. Amoils completed his Family Practice residency at the University of Cincinnati and then spent ten years in Family Practice, before practicing Integrative Medicine on a fulltime basis at the Alliance Institute.
Dr. Amoils is Board Certified in Pain Management and Family Medicine. He is a Volunteer Clinical Instructor in the Family Medicine Department at the University of Cincinnati. He has been selected as one America’s Top Family doctors on multiple occasions between 2002 and 2007. He received “The Best Doctors in America” award in 2007/2008.
Dr. Amoils is involved in the continual practice, learning, research and teaching of Integrative Medicine.
