James R. Leonard, MD
After returning from Texas, Dr. Jim Leonard has rejoined the Alliance Institute as an orthopedic consultant/physician acupuncturist. Dr. Leonard is in practice as an orthopedic surgeon at Wellington Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Leonard received his MD from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and associated hospitals. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and pain management.
During Dr. Leonard’s 21 years in practice, he became increasingly more intrigued with the benefits of integrative medicine as a means to treat people with chronic pain and associated conditions. He studied medical acupuncture under Joseph Helms, MD, through UCLA’s College of Continuing Medicine (he has subsequently became a Clinical Instructor for their Physician Acupuncture Training Course). In addition, he is a founding member of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
Dr. Leonard is available for acupuncture appointments at the Alliance Institute. (He is working in conjunction with other physicians at the Institute.)
