Janie Proctor has been a massage therapist with the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine since October, 2001.

Janie graduated with a BA in English from Northern Kentucky University, and worked for 12 years in the customer service industry for major corporations:   Procter & Gamble, The Andrew Jergens Company and Fidelity Investments.

In 1998 Janie’s father was diagnosed with cancer, and while she had no formal training in massage therapy, she discovered during his illness that she had a gift.   She gave her father massages to help ease his pain and stress.  In his words, “it was the only thing that made him feel human.”   This experience was paramount in motivating Janie to begin her massage therapy career and start making a difference in people’s lives.   She graduated from SHI Integrative Medical Massage School located in Lebanon, Ohio, in April, 2001.  As part of this program, she was chosen for an internship with the Wellness Community in Cincinnati, Ohio, an organization dedicated to cancer patients and their families.  Today, she continues to offer her services to individuals and families dealing with serious illness by volunteering at the Ronald MacDonald House, a nonprofit organization affiliated with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and other areas hospitals.  The RMH provides  a “home away from home” for families and their children regardless of their ability to pay.

As a Massage Therapist, she is licensed with the State Medical Board of Ohio.  She is also licensed in the State of Kentucky, and is Nationally Certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work.  Janie’s  specific training is in the following areas:   Muscle Energy Technique I (Stretching), Craniosacral Therapy I (Energy Healing), Integrative Neuromuscular Therapy (Cervical and Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunctions), Integrative Neuromuscular Therapy (Upper Extremity),  Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, Headaches Trigger Point Therapy, Stone Therapy, Rejuvenation/Rebalancing Therapies, Infant Massage Instructor, TouchPro Chair Massage, Basic Thai Massage.

In addition, another passion for Janie is fitness and exercise.  It is an integral part of her life, and she loves motivating and helping others to make it part of their lives as well.  Janie has been a Spin/Strength Training Instructor for 6 years, and recently received her Level 1 Yoga Fit Certification.
