Find out about our Mind/Body Program
Hippocrates once wrote, "The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well." This is the essence of mind-body medicine. Our thoughts and emotions affect our physical health. Learning to focus in a certain way can change many systems within the body and bring greater awareness and control in one’s life. Often we need to transform our relationship to stress and improve our coping skills in order to improve our health. Ultimately we want the systems within the body to work efficiently and in harmony with each other.
Our Mind/Body Program combines proven-to-work ancient practices (such as meditation and mindfulness) with up-to- date scientifically validated techniques (such as biofeedback) to individualize a program to restore balance and provide peak performance. Our Program explores a range of self care options to help regain the pleasures of everyday life and/or to be able to operate at one’s optimal level. The patient is taught practical strategies that apply to each patient’s situation to achieve his/her goal in addition to being guided through experiential sessions in order to feel the results of these techniques.

Creating a Personalized Stress Reduction Program
If you need a personalized program, make an appointment to see our Stress Reduction Specialist and Mind/Body teacher, Julie Douglas-Kippins. Julie is an excellent person to help you get closer to a lifetime engagement of balance. With extensive experience in her field and studies here and abroad, she holds full certification in Craniosacral Therapy, completion of Harvard Medical School's Mind Body Clinic and has studied and practiced in various modalities such as breathwork, guided imagery, emotional coherence, meditation, cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness based studies. She has a wonderful way of connecting to each person and allowing the learning experience not only to be relevant and compelling, but fun.
How Many Sessions?
We recommend that you plan on 3-5 sessions to see a noticeable difference. Depending on the person and the condition, the goals may be achieved in that amount of time but long term problems may need continued support to achieve the final desired effects. You and your Practitioner will determine a plan during the first consultation.
Who Can Benefit?
Our Program addresses a variety of problems. Whether you are physically ill, want to improve your sports performance or just feel a greater sense of balance in your life. We offer an array of Mind/Body techniques to address physical and emotional well-being. Some specific areas that can be helped with Mind/Body techniques are Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Pain, High Blood Pressure, Headaches, Insomnia, IBS and Panic Disorder. Generally improving Hormonal System function, the Immune System, the Cardiovascular System, Mental Clarity (decision making), Emotional Stability and our relationships with others can be additional benefits.
